Our main purpose is Education.
It is our desire to create, foster, and maintain interest in genealogical research.
Our goals are to:
* schedule classes so people of all ages can learn how to research
* offer a support system for beginners to help them along the way
* have our members participate by sharing their knowledge
* promote speakers that can teach us new methods and ideas
We share this information with others at meetings, seminars, and through our publications.

COVID-19: As the nation begins to emerge from the coronavirus pandemic, the BAGS Board has decided to continue conducting most activities online. There are, however, monthly in-person Members-Helping-Members sessions at the Friendswood Family History Center and BAGS will hold three in-person general meetings in August, December, and next April. In addition, bus trips to the Clayton Library should resume soon. Please join us at any of the following:
- Monthly General Meetings:
Our monthly General Meetings will now be held online in a webinar format. For the most part, our guest speakers will remain the same. Members and visitors are invited to read about the next, upcoming monthly meeting. See the notes and links under “Upcoming Events” in the sidebar on the right side of this page. You will need to register for each webinar session. See the link in the sidebar notice for the next meeting.
- Members Helping Members Genealogy Discussions:
BAGS members are hosting weekly and monthly online roundtable discussions as well as in-person meetings on select dates at the Friendswood Family History Center (Bring your own laptop and use their WiFi to access locked records or use one of their six available computers.)
See the link in the sidebar notice for these meetings.
- Help Getting Online:
If you need practice or assistance with accessing our webinar meetings or Zoom meetings, please send an email message to us (Info@txbayareagen.org) requesting help. We will try to schedule a time in advance of the meeting to contact you and guide you through a practice session. Please include your phone number.
We encourage you to be careful and follow the guidelines provided by our healthcare professionals. We care about you and hope to see you in the future when we are able to meet again in person. In the meantime, keep up with BAGS news on our Facebook page and this website.
If you are a member and not receiving our announcements, newsletters, and other emails,
